Kazakh Healthcare Minister named demanded medical specialties in Kazakhstan

In general, the country has up to 70 thousand doctors and 175 thousand medical workers.
The Minister of Healthcare of Kazakhstan, Yelshan Birtanov, at the reporting session with the population told the doctors Kazakhstan lacks.

Staffing is one of the pressing issues. We receive many questions from the doctor and from the population. In general, I would say that the country has up to 70 thousand doctors and 175 thousand middle-level medical staff. Looking attentively, one can see that compared to other states out country has the level of staffing higher than in the OECD states," said Yelzhan Birtanov.

According to him, there are reserves in medical specialties, but the problem is that they are unproperly distributed.

I will say that in terms of one specialties we have surplus, but in other specialties we have deficiency. Unfortunately, we have deficiency in the most demanded sectors at the level of primary medical and sanitary care, there is a lack of general practitioners. Unfortunately, there is a lack of gynecologists, resuscitators in connection with big stress they face following the specifics of the works," said the Minister.

In this connection, the Ministry of Healthcare takes measures to re-arrange the staff and to stimulate the work of doctors.

In general, we can observe small deficiency in staff in 2018 and 2012, when there was deficiency of 6 thousand staff. Since then, owing to the increase of enrollment and graduation of students of medical universities, the level of deficiency has decreased by two times. Now it is 2700 staff. Accordingly, annually 5.5 thousand interns and residents are graduated," said Birtanov.
