Kazakhstan index of budget openness of 2006 made 43 %

Almaty. November 3. Kazakhstan Today - According to the results of the research, the index of Kazakhstan of budget openness in 2006 made 43 %. Director of the Center of analysis of public issues Meruert Makhmutova said on Thursday at the press conference, the agency reports.

M. Makhmutova informed that according to the results of the research, Kazakhstan with an index of 43 % was included into the group of the countries informing their citizens on the budget. However, the Republic needs to improve the transparency and increase of accountability of the government. Kazakhstan has high results in separate parameters and zero in some others. High parameters are observed in monthly reports on execution of the budget - 87 % and auditing reports - 67%.

According to the research results, Russia has the closest parameter to Kazakhstan among CIS countries - 47 %, Azerbaijan - 30 % and Georgia - 33 %. The highest parameter is (88 %) in France. The most closed and inaccessible to its citizens budget information is in Angola (2 %).
