Kazakhstan occupied 145 place out of 180 on Corruption Perceptions Index
Almaty. February 20. Kazakhstan Today - In 2008 Kazakhstan occupied the 145th place on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). The chairman of Public Fund Transparency Kazakhstan, Vitaly Voronov, informed during the round table 'Assessment of international level of corruption', the agency reports.
"We were included into the research in 1999 for the first time. The index of corruption perception was - 2.3 and we occupied 88 place out of 99; in 2000 - 65 place out of 90, the index was 3 was the highest index. In 2001 - index 2.7, 71 place out of 91 countries; 2002 - 88 place out of 102 countries, the index 2.3; 2003 - 100 place out of 130, the index 2.4; 2004 - 122 place out of 145. 2.2 index; 2005 - 107 place out of 150, the index 2.6; 2006 - 111 place out of 163, 2.6; 2007 - the worst - 150 place out of 179, the index 2.1; in 2008 - 145 place out of 180, the index 2.2," V. Voronov said.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
