Kazakhstan occupies 150 place in world level of corruption - Transparency International

Kazakhstan occupies 150 place in the world level of corruption, the agency reports referring to Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2007, published by the world coalition on counteraction of corruption Transparency International.

Almaty. October 1. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan occupies 150 place in the world level of corruption, the agency reports referring to Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2007, published by the world coalition on counteraction of corruption Transparency International.

CPI point in Kazakhstan, according to Transparency International, has made 2.1 out of 10 possible. Thus, confidential interval, which reflects a range of possible values of CPI point for Kazakhstan varies within the limits of 1.9-2.3. At the same time, number of researches, which reflects quantity of researches carried out in the country on corruption, makes 8. To be included to CPI, at least 3 researches should be conducted in the country.

Along with Kazakhstan, such countries, as Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Ecuador, Kenya, and Liberia occupy 150 place of corruption level. Russia occupies 143, Turkmenistan - 162. Among CIS countries, the most corrupt state, in the opinion of the researchers of Transparency International has appeared Uzbekistan - 175 place.

The worst position with corruption has appeared in such countries, as Haiti, Iraq, Myanma and Somalia. The highest estimation 9.4 points were received by Denmark, Finland and New Zealand.

According to CPI 2006, Kazakhstan occupies 111 place at the general point 2.6, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan - 142 place, Russia - 121 place. However, in 2007 the CPI list of corruption in public sector included 180 countries of the world, while in 2006 this list consisted of 163 states.

On the official site of the organization, to define the level of corruption level of bribery, degree of involvement of state employees in business, availability of independent justice and legislation on struggle against money laundering, transparency of the government and its accountability to the civil society is taken into consideration.
