Kazakhstan occupies 79 place in index of human development - UNDP

Almaty. November 15. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan occupies 79 place in the list of 177 countries in the index of human development. The first Vice President of Agency informed today during the presentation of UNDP report on human development of 2006 according to Yury Shokamanov, a constant member of the working group of the national report on human development of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

" Kazakhstan now occupies the 79 place with the index of human development 0.774. It is 1 place above than last year," Y. Shokamanov informed. "According to life expectancy for 2004 - 22 place (63.4 years)," he noted.

Y. Shokamanov explained that one of the important components of human development index is data on literacy of the population and GDP. According to the level of literacy of adult population Kazakhstan is on the 8th place (99.5 % according to population census of 1999), scope of training - 23 place (90.7 %)."

"Among CIS countries Russia occupies the first place (human development index - 0.8). Russia is close to the countries with high level of human development," Y. Shokamanov emphasized. According to the expert, Belarus is on the second place (0.794), further - Ukraine (0.774). Kazakhstan in this list occupies the fourth place (0.774), Armenia (0.768), Georgia (0.743), further - other countries of Commonwealth.
