Kazakhstan representative to head permanent CSTO commission

Astana. April 2. Kazakhstan Today - Akhan Bizhanov, the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, will head the permanent commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on political affairs and international cooperation, Majilis press service informed the agency.

"According to the unanimous decision of CSTO council members, the representative of the Kazakhstan Parliament will head CSTO permanent commission on political affairs and international cooperation," the Majilis message following the results of the first CSTO session taken place on Friday in St. Petersburg states.

"By Ural Mukhamedzhanov's proposal, the head of the Kazakhstan delegation, Boris Gryzlov, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, was elected CSTO Chairman," the press release underlines.

As it was informed earlier, the decision to create CSTO Parliamentary Assembly was made in November 2006 at the session of the council members of CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly.

The CSTO member states include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
