Kazakhstan Temir Zholy upgrades service level for passengers, traveling by railway

Starting from the new year "Passenger Transportation" JSC launches additional 1500 third-generation mobile terminals, thus making boarding of passengers faster, the company's press service informs.

The third-generation mobile terminal is a device to register the passengers with e-tickets, using an identification number, e-ticket with the bar-code, travel documents displayed as an image on the passenger's smart-device.

The conductor, using the third-generation mobile terminal with an electronic digital signature, controls the boarding, defines the legitimacy of e-tickets through bar-codes, ticket numbers, and details of the identification card," they said in the company.

As of today, about 70% of tickets are bought electronically, including through the internet. By 2020, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy plans to increase this figure up to 90%. Over 10 internet sites selling e-tickets, over 3000 postal offices of Kazpost, over 17 000 self-service check-in machines operate.
