Kazakhstan to increase financing of public health services up to 4 % of GDP

Astana. October 15. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan plans to increase financing of public health services up to 4 % of GDP. WHO General Director, Margaret Chan, informed after the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, the agency reports referring to the president's press service.

According to the press service, UNICEF Executive Director, Ann Veneman, during the meeting with N. Nazarbayev informed on the intention to take part in the international conference devoted to the 30th anniversary of the Almaty Declaration on the primary medico sanitary help.

"The leader of the state noted that adoption of the Almaty Declaration WHO in 1978 became an important event not only for Kazakhstan, but also for the whole international community. Realization of the Declaration has been directed at achievement of one of the major problems - improvement of health of people at the global level. The main principles of the document have been - social and economic policy of many countries of the world," the press service informs.

"N. Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan has successfully cooperated with UNICEF since 1992. The third country cooperation program between the government of Kazakhstan and UNICEF for 2005 - 2009 is being realized now," the message states.
