Kazakhstan world rating went up from 61 to 56 place

Almaty. January 5. Kazakhstan Today - By the results of the world rating of competitive countries Kazakhstan occupied the 56th place in 2006, the agency reports referring to official mass media.

According to the Chairman of the Committee of intellectual property rights of the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan Marat Aykenov, according to the data of the competition review made by world economic forum for 2004 - 2005, Kazakhstan occupied 61 place out of 117 countries and according to the level of macroeconomic development - 40 place taking the lead over all the countries of the former USSR. According to the index of competitiveness of 2006 - 2007, Kazakhstan moved to the 56th place.

Aykenov noted that in the beginning of 1990 Kazakhstan in the index of competitiveness occupied only 109 place. "Today our neighbors from the CIS countries - Russia and Ukraine - occupy 75th and 84th positions accordingly," he added. "These facts demonstrate that the strategy of Kazakhstan to become one of fifty the most competitive countries of the world is being successfully realized," M. Aykenov considers.
