KazNU in some disciplines entered TOP 200 of world universities
Almaty. July 5. Kazakhstan Today - According to the International rating agency QS (UK), Kazakhstan National University named after al-Farabi in 2011 - 2012 school year in some subjects was included in the list of 200 best universities in the world, Kazakhstan Today reports.
"For the first time in the former Soviet Union, only two higher education institutions - KazNU named after al-Farabi and Moscow State University named after Lomonosov have achieved this result," the press service of KazNU informed.
Today KazNU is actively working on implementation of the task set by the President on entering of higher education institutions to the TOP universities in the world. In the last academic year the university has made a breakthrough, rising during the year in the QS ranking positions by 200 and took 402 place among the 700 best universities in the world.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
