Kurgaljin and Narzum Natural Reserves of Kazakhstan included in UNESCO List of World Heritage

Kurgaljin and Narzum Natural Reserves of Kazakhstan have been included in UNESCO List of World Heritage. The Minister of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Iskakov, informed today at the press conference in Astana, the agency reports.

Astana. July 17. Kazakhstan Today - Kurgaljin and Narzum Natural Reserves of Kazakhstan have been included in UNESCO List of World Heritage. The Minister of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Iskakov, informed today at the press conference in Astana, the agency reports.

The Minister specified that two reserves have been joined into one nomination under the name Sary-Arka - steppes and lakes of the Northern Kazakhstan, as they are in one geographical zone and within the limits of one migratory way of waterfowl.

N. Iskakov emphasized that for Kazakhstan the new status of objects allows to receive a number of advantages, including additional guarantees of safety and integrity of these natural complexes, prestige of the territories, and priority for attraction of financial resources for support of the objects: first of all, from Fund of World Heritage and other world financial institutions.

"Except for ecological benefits there are image and political benefits before chairmanship in OSCE and the conference of ministers of the countries of Asian-Pacific region in 2010," N. Iskakov specified.
