Kyrgyzstan to reconsider laws contradicting Constitution of 2003

All the legal acts adopted on the basis of two last editions of the Constitution of 2006 are subject to cancellation if they contradict the Basic Law of 2003, Constitutional Court of the Republic informed the agency on Monday.

Bishkek. September 18. Kazakhstan Today - All the legal acts adopted on the basis of two last editions of the Constitution of 2006 are subject to cancellation if they contradict the Basic Law of 2003, Constitutional Court of the Republic informed the agency on Monday.

In this connection, the deputies of the Kyrgyzstan Parliament raised the question of legitimacy of judges of the Constitutional Court, the government representatives and the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic. The Speaker Marat Sultanov charged parliamentary lawyers to check the laws for conformity with the Constitution of 2003.

As it was informed earlier, on September 14 of 2007, the Constitutional Court of Kyrgyzstan recognized the Basic Law of the Republic illegitimate.

The basis for such decision became the fact that two last editions of the Constitution adopted in November and December 2006, were signed without the resolution of the Constitutional court and national voting. Thus, in Kyrgyzstan the Constitution adopted at the referendum in February 2003 came into operation.
