Launch of the booster rocket Proton-M with three navigating satellites Glonass-M has been scheduled for September 25, the agency reports referring to Roscosmos press service.

Baikonur. July 21. Kazakhstan Today - Launch of the booster rocket Proton-M with three navigating satellites Glonass-M has been scheduled for September 25, the agency reports referring to Roscosmos press service.

According to the press service, 6 Glonass-M satellites have been scheduled for launch from Baikonur up to the end of this year.

According to the General Director of Satellite Information Systems, Nikolay Testoedov, Russian orbital group Glonass (Global navigating satellite system) that includes 24 operating and 6 reserve space vehicles will be formed within the planned terms.

"Now three Glonass-M space sattelites in Satellite Information Systems will be launched from Baikonur on September 25. Three more Glonass-M rockets will be launched on December 25," N.Testoedov noted.

After delivery of Glonass-M satellites to the cosmodrome, their preparation for launch will begin according to the planned scheduled.

Space satellites Glonass-M were created in Reshetnev Research and Production Association of Applied Mechanics and should supplement a group of satellites of Russian navigating system Glonass (analogue of the American system of global positioning GPS).

A complete group of 24 satellites should be developed by the end of 2008. The system will be accessible for foreign users in 2009 - 2010. Development of Glonass system has big importance for Russia and its partners. Kazakhstan will be one of the participants of the project within the limits of the concluded agreement on cooperation and joint participation with Russia in Glonass project.
