Mass media legislation to be checked in regards to its conformity with international standards

The project - International Mass Media Standards and the National Legislation started in Kazakhstan, the agency reports citing Kazakhstan Criminological Association.

Almaty. February 25. Kazakhstan Today - The project - International Mass Media Standards and the National Legislation started in Kazakhstan, the agency reports citing Kazakhstan Criminological Association.

According to the association, realization of the project began in December, 2009 with the help of financial support of the European Union. The main objective of the project - research of the national legislation of Kazakhstan in regards to its conformity with the international standards and preparation of the comparative analytical material.

According to I. Buyankina, chief executive of Kazakhstan Criminological Association, the project is intended for two years. "If we found any discrepancies in our legislation in regards to the international standards, we will develop recommendations or an alternative mass media bill," she informed.
