Military aerodrome in Ayni to be shared by Russia and Tajikistan defense departments

Military aerodrome Ayni located in 20 kilometers to the west of Dushanbe will be shared by defense departments of Tajikistan and Russia, the Minister of Defense of Russia, Anatoly Serdyukov, who arrived for the official visit to Tajikistan, informed journalists after the meeting with Emomali Rahmon, the agency reports referring to information agency Asia Plus.

Kazakhstan Today - Military aerodrome Ayni located in 20 kilometers to the west of Dushanbe will be shared by defense departments of Tajikistan and Russia, the Minister of Defense of Russia, Anatoly Serdyukov, who arrived for the official visit to Tajikistan, informed journalists after the meeting with Emomali Rahmon, the agency reports referring to information agency Asia Plus.

The Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, Sherali Hayrulloyev, who took part in the meeting, has supported his counterpart, having added, that this is the question of sharing of the aerodrome with Russia.

During the visit to Dushanbe, which will come to an end today in the second half of the day, A. Serdyukov plans to visit optical-electronic control center Nurek and the army units of the 201st Russian military base deployed in Tajikistan.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on December 9, 2002 and the addition to the agreement was signed on November 16, 2004. According to the document, Tajik party pays off its debt to Russia by direct payments of the main part of the debt and interests by transfer to the property of Russia of optical-electronic center Nurek ($242.4 million) and 75 % minus one share of Sangtudin Hydro Electro station-1.
