The Nature Protection Office of Public Prosecutor of Kazakhstan has instigated criminal case on the fact of mass death of seals at the Kazakhstan coast of the Caspian Sea, the agency reports citing the press service of the State Office of Public Prosecutor.

Astana. May 25. Kazakhstan Today - The Nature Protection Office of Public Prosecutor of Kazakhstan has instigated criminal case on the fact of mass death of seals at the Kazakhstan coast of the Caspian Sea, the agency reports citing the press service of the State Office of Public Prosecutor.

"Aktau Nature Protection Office of Public Prosecutor has instigated the criminal case on the fact of mass death of seals on May, 14th that has been sent to the investigatory department of internal affairs of the region to organize preliminary investigation ," the press service informed.

According to the press service, the employees of the regional department of the environmental protection have sampled some sea water in different places: Asan, the beach - Fort-Shevchenko and Bautino - to check for mineral oil, heavy metals and other toxic substances.

Earlier, the scientific employee of the laboratory of virus ecology of the Institute of Microbiology and Virology, Aydyn kydyrmanov, informed that mass death of seals in Mangistau area had occurred as a result of intensive fishery.
