Number of HIV infected children in South Kazakhstan reached 118

Shymkent. June 18. Kazakhstan Today - The number of HIV infected children in the South Kazakhstan oblast reached 118. The press service of the regional AIDS center informed the agency.

"Four more children, 2004 - 2005 of birth, with the positive HIV infection diagnosis have been revealed. They relate to already existing center of infection," the press secretary informed.

According to the press service, children living in Saryagysh, Sayram, Tolebiy regions and Shymkent have been HIV diagnosed. The parents' check is being carried out. In three cases mothers are healthy. The analyses raises doubts in one case, the check is being conducted.

As of today, nine HIV infected children have died; one has been adopted and left abroad and 14 mothers have been diagnosed HIV positive in the South Kazakhstan.
