Office of Public Prosecutor lifted claim to newspaper Caravan

Almaty. June 21. Kazakhstan Today - The Office of Public Prosecutor of Bostandyk region has withdrawn on Wednesday the claim to the newspaper Caravan. Senior legal adviser of the publishing house Alma-Media Svetlana Shamychkova informed the agency.

According to S. Shamychkova, the last hearing on the claim of the Public Prosecutor of Bostandyk region to the publishing house Alma-Media regarding suspension of publication of the newspaper for 3 months took place in the specialized interdistrict economic court. "Prior to the beginning of consideration of the case the Public Prosecutor submitted application for withdrawal of the claim motivating it by necessity to conduct additional investigation," S. Shamychkova noted.

The legal adviser emphasized, "there are no restricting measures imposed on the work of the newspaper of the publishing house Alma-Media."

As it was informed earlier, on May 24, the Public Prosecutor of Bostandyk region brought the suit to the economic court of Almaty for suspension of the newspaper Caravan publication for the period of 3 months. The same day the court complied with the Public Prosecutor's suit of the measures on maintenance charges and forbade publication of the newspaper Caravan. The reason for publication suspension became the fact that newspaper Caravan disclosed the data of preliminary investigation and other secret protected by the law. However, newspaper Caravan addressed court with the request to remove publication banning of a weekly journal, guaranteeing that it will not cover the facts of investigation on the criminal cases connected with Nurbank.
