Parents of HIV infected children outraged by verdict pronounced to health care chairmen of South Kazakhstan

Shymkent. June 11. Kazakhstan Today - The parents of HIV infected children are outraged by the verdict pronounced to ex-management of the department of public health services of the South Kazakhstan oblast, the agency reports.

Fathers and mothers of the infected children who were present at yesterday's judicial session unanimously demanded to turn down probation and pronounce severe and fair verdicts.

The victims' representative Katira Bakbolova stated that the court should not pronounce probation. "For all these families HIV diagnosis for their children became the terrible event," she said. Many of the families broke up. Where is guarantee that these children can live a valuable life and do not become social outcasts? I consider, that in this case, all guilty should incur the most severe punishment."

As it was informed earlier, the judicial session on the case of mass HIV infection of children has been taking place since January 19 in Shymkent. The charges were brought against 21 people.

As of today, there are 114 HIV positive children (nine died, one has been adopted and left abroad) and 14 HIV positive mothers in the South Kazakhstan.
