Piloted spaceship Soyuz TMA-17 with crew of cosmonauts successfully docked to ISS
Almaty. December 23. Kazakhstan Today - The piloted spaceship Soyuz TMA-17 with the crew of three cosmonauts docked to the International Space Station (ISS) today at 04.48 Astana time, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.
According to the press service, the piloted spaceship Soyuz TMA-17 was launched at 03.52 Astana time from the cosmodrome Baikonur to the International Space Station with the crew: Russian Oleg Kotov, NASA astronaut Timothy Creamer and the astronaut of Japanese space agency JAXA, Soichi Noguchi.
Joining of the ship Soyuz TMA-17 with ISS is planned for December 23 at 01.54 Moscow time.
The crew will spend in ISS about half a year - until May, 2010.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
