Preparation for launch of the booster rocket Proton-M with the Canadian satellite Nimiq 4 proceeds at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the press service of Federal Space Agency Baikonur.

Baikonur. July 18. Kazakhstan Today - Preparation for launch of the booster rocket Proton-M with the Canadian satellite Nimiq 4 proceeds at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the press service of Federal Space Agency Baikonur.

According to the press service, the experts of the cosmodrome are carrying out independent tests of the systems of the booster rocket Proton-M intended for launch of the space vehicle Nimiq 4 in assembly testing house of platform №92.

The experts of the enterprises have started preparation of the starting complex of platform №200, from which the booster rocket Proton with the space satellite Nimiq 4 will be launched.

The satellite Nimiq 4 will be delivered to the cosmodrome in August. Foreign experts of the factory manufacturer will start preparation of the satellite for launch, the press service informs.

As it was informed earlier, the launch from Baikonur of the space vehicle Nimiq 4 by the booster rocket Proton-M is planned for the middle of September, 2008.

By the order of Telesat Canada some of the Canadian satellites have already been launched from cosmodrome Baikonur: on May 21, 1999 the rocket Proton-K had launched to the orbit the space vehicle (КА) Nimiq-1, on December 30, 2002 - the space satellite Nimiq-2. The successful launches of the space vehicles similar in design to the space satellite Nimiq have been carried out: Anik F1R in 2005 and Anik F3 in 2007. In 2009 the next launch of the booster rocket Proton-M with the space vehicle of the fifth series - Nimig 5 has been already planned.

Satellite Nimiq 4 was constructed on the basis of satellite platform Eurostar E3000 by the European company EADS Astrium and intended for work in geostationary orbit. The space satellite Nimiq 4 belongs to Telesat Canada - the national Canadian company of the satellite communication providing data transmission and rendering service of distribution of broadcast in the Northern America.
