Baikonur. April 3. Kazakhstan Today - Preparation for launch of the booster rocket Soyuz-FG with GLOVE-В satellite proceeds at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the source at the cosmodrome.

The launch of the European satellite GLOVE-B is planned for April 27. It will be the third space launch planned for April.

Foreign experts are carrying out independent preparation of the European satellite GLOVE-B (GSTB-V2/B-technical classification) in the assembly-testing house (ISS) of the platform №112. The space vehicle's systems are being checked and tested.

Russian experts are preparing for launch the booster block Frigate delivered to the cosmodrome on March 28 in the chamber of the assembly testing house of the platform №31. The booster block Frigate is intended for launch of the space vehicle to the target orbit.

The satellite GLOVE-В weighting about 700 kg is intended for development of the new European system of global positioning Galileo. The satellite will function in the orbit at the height of about 23 000 kilometers. The period of guaranteed satellite life is 12 years.

Galileo system will include 30 satellites (27 operational and 3 spare). It will be capable to distinguish objects on the surface of the Earth with a margin error 5 - 10 meters. Galileo system will be able to work along with the America Global navigating system GPS and Russian navigating system GLONASS.

The first satellite of Galileo system GIOVE-A (Galileo In-Orbit Validation Element) was launched from Baikonur on December 28, 2005 by the booster rocket Soyuz-FG. The space vehicle GIOVE-A was launched to the orbit at the height of more than 23 000 kilometers.

The launch of the space vehicle GLOVE-В by the booster rocket Soyuz-FG is planned for April 27, 2008.
