Preparation for launch of Malaysian satellite Measat-1R began at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to a source at the cosmodrome.

Baikonur. July 23. Kazakhstan Today - Preparation for launch of Malaysian satellite Measat-1R began at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to a source at the cosmodrome.

According to the source, foreign experts of firm-manufacturer Orbital Sciences Corporation (OSC) started preparation for launch of the space vehicle Measat-1R delivered to the cosmodrome on July 21.

12 transponders of C-range and 12 transponders of Qu-range of general capacity of 3.6 KW have been established on the satellite weighting more than 2400 kg. Measat-1R will be placed in geostationary orbit with coordinate of 91.5 degrees of east longitude. The service life of the satellite is 15 years.

As it was informed earlier, launch of the satellite Measat-1R by the carrier rocket Zenith-3SLБ has been scheduled to be done from a starting complex of platform №45 in the end of August.

Measat-1R was made on the base of the platform Star for small geosteady-state satellites by the American company OSC by the order of Malaysian communication operator Measat Satellite Systems and is intended for granting services of communication and transmission of TV signal of high clearness for Malaysia, Indonesia and other Southern Asia countries.
