Preparation of booster block Breeze-M for launch of Canadian satellite Nimiq 4 began at Baikonur

Preparation of the booster block Breeze-M for launch of the Canadian satellite Nimiq 4 in September began at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the press service of Hrunichev State Space Research and Production Center.

Baikonur. August 20. Kazakhstan Today - Preparation of the booster block Breeze-M for launch of the Canadian satellite Nimiq 4 in September began at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the press service of Hrunichev State Space Research and Production Center.

According to the press service, on Sunday, August 17, the booster block Breeze-M was delivered by Polet airline to the airport Yubileyny of the cosmodrome Baikonur that will be used in the structure of the rocket carrier Proton-M for putting into orbit of the space satellite Nimiq 4 for the Canadian operator of satellite communication Telesaton.

After unloading and customs registration the containers with the booster block and auxiliary equipment were delivered to the assembly testing complex of the platform №92А-50 for preparation of the space satellite for launch.

The forthcoming launch will be carried out within the limits of the contract concluded between International Launch Services (ILS) and the Canadian operator of satellite communication Telesat Canada.

The satellite Nimiq 4 was constructed on the basis of the satellite platform Eurostar E3000 by the European company EADS Astrium and intended for work in the geosteady-state orbit. The space satellite Nimiq 4 belongs to Telesat Canada - the national Canadian company the satellite communication providing data transmission and rendering broadcasting service in Northern America.

Launch from Baikonur of the space satellite Nimiq 4 by means of the rocket carrier Proton-M and the booster block Breeze-M is planned for the second half of September, 2008.
