Radical and extremist organizations reinforce their activities in Central Asian region

Bishkek. May 22. Kazakhstan Today - Radical and extremist religious organizations reinforce their activities in the Central Asian region. The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolay Bordyuzha stated today at the media forum Role of Mass Media in Counteraction to Challenges and Threats of XXI Century, the agency reports.

In his report N. Bordyuzha listed risks and threats for the Central Asian countries, one of which is expansion of influence of radical Islamic associations. He has emphasized that radical Islamic party Hizb ut Tahrir is stiring up its activity in the countries of the region, there is a regrouping of fighting formations of Islamic movement of Uzbekistan, escaped after its rout of their main body during antiterrorist operation in Afghanistan.

According to N. Bordyuzha, threat of drug trafficking also remains a serious problem for the region as it is considered by criminality the main transit corridor for drugs smuggling from Afghanistan to the CIS countries and further - to the Europe.
