Relatives of dead miners speak about infringement of their rights

Almaty. October 29. Kazakhstan Today - The relatives of the miners who died during explosion in the mine named after Lenin in Karaganda talk about infringement of their rights. The chairman of the Committee for protection of miner's families Natalia Tomilova stated on Wednesday at the press conference.

The verdict of court regarding the explosion in the mine was pronounced on July 9; however, the relatives of the victims submitted the appeal and demanded justice.

N. Tomilova gave a few examples of infringement of the rights of the dissatisfied party. According to the legislation, "victims and the accusation party have the right to familiarize with the materials of the case," she emphasized. "But when my clients and I received the report of the judicial session, it was a pack of sheets: not numbered, not strung together, and signed by pencil," N. Tomilova said.

Moreover, the victims were able to familiarize with only three out of 29 volumes of the criminal case.

The wives and children of the dead miners doubt that the remains of their relatives have been buried. According to N. Tomilova, the remains were stored incorrectly - at the temperature of 10 degrees. "We were trying to achieve burial the whole year, but were told that the remains of our relatives were in the mortuary as material evidences," she explained.

The process now is at the stage of appeal.

As it was informed earlier, the explosion in the mine named after Lenin, belonging to the Company Mittal Steel Temirtau, occurred on September 20, 2006 at 8.56. As a result of the explosion 41 people died. For the last half a century this was the most terrible tragedy in the Karaganda coal basin. 8 people received punishment.
