Rocket Proton-M with space vehicle Ciel-2 to be launched from Baikonur
Baikonur. December 10. Kazakhstan Today - The rocket carrier Proton-M with the space vehicle (КА) Ciel-2 will be launched from Baikonur today, the agency reports with reference to a source at the cosmodrome.
Final operations on preparation for launch of the rocket erected on December 7th on a launcher Proton-M with the Canadian satellite Ciel-2 are being done today on the starting complex of the platform №200.
The rocket carrier Proton-M with the space vehicle Ciel-2 is planned for December 10th at 19.43 Astana time (16.43 Moscow time).
The Canadian telecommunication satellite Ciel-2 was made by French company Alcatel Alenia Space on the platform Spacebus-4000 C4 by the order of Ciel Satellite Company (Canada).
Ciel-2 weighting 5575 kg has 32 re-transmitters of Q-range. The satellite Ciel-2 is intended for granting communication services in the territory of Canada and the major part of the Northern America. Its life service is 15 years.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
