Russia offered UN initiatives on solution of world food crisis

Response of the international community to global food crisis should be of two directions: humanitarian and long-term. The UN First Assistant to the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation, Igor Scherbak, stated at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly devoted to world food and energy crises, the agency reports referring to the UN News Center.

Almaty. July 23. Kazakhstan Today - Response of the international community to global food crisis should be of two directions: humanitarian and long-term. The UN First Assistant to the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation, Igor Scherbak, stated at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly devoted to world food and energy crises, the agency reports referring to the UN News Center.

As I. Scherbak informed, two meetings are planned to be held for development of long-term decisions at Russia's initiative. The first - the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of G8 where large countries, manufacturers of agricultural products, exporters of foodstuffs and the key international organizations are invited.

I. Scherbak added that participants of the summit will discuss opportunities of escalating of manufacture and creation of stocks of grains necessary for investment into infrastructure and the questions of struggle against speculative manipulations.
