Satellite Express-AM33 intended for launch on January 23 delivered to Baikonur

Russian satellite Express-AM33 intended for launch on January 23 has been delivered to Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the source at the cosmodrome.

Baikonur. January 4. Kazakhstan Today - Russian satellite Express-AM33 intended for launch on January 23 has been delivered to Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the source at the cosmodrome.

According to the source, the space vehicle has been delivered to the aerodrome Yubileyny by transport plane IL-76.

"Now Express-AM33 with subsidiary equipment need to be transported to the assembly-test case of the platform 92А-50 where its pre-starting preparation will be carried out," the source informed.

The duration of the work of the satellite is 12 years. Express-AM33 is intended for maintenance of communication, tele-radio broadcasting and data transmission, maintenance of mobile governmental and presidential communication.

This device should replace geo steady-state satellite Express-АМ11, which had an accident in March 2006 as a result of collision with "space garbage " in the orbit.

Launch of Express-AM33 is planned by means of the booster rocket Proton-M for January 23, 2008.
