Satellite Glonass-M intended for launch on December 25 delivered to Baikonur

The satellite Glonass-M intended for launch on September 25 has been delivered to Baikonur, the agency reports referring to a source at the cosmodrome.

Baikonur. August 12. Kazakhstan Today - The satellite Glonass-M intended for launch on September 25 has been delivered to Baikonur, the agency reports referring to a source at the cosmodrome.

The space vehicle Glonass-M was delivered on Monday to aerodrome Yubileyny by transport plane AN-124-100 Ruslan.

After unloading the space vehicle Glonass-M with auxiliary equipment will be transported to the assembly testing complex of the platform 92А-50 for its pre-starting preparation.

This has been the first of three satellites Glonass-M planned to be launched by means of the rocket carrier Proton-M. Two others space satellites to the cosmodrome will be delivered as soon as they are ready.

Space vehicles Glonass-M have been created in JSC Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems and will replenish an orbital group of devices of Russian navigating system GLONASS.

Development of GLONASS system has for Russia and its partners strategic value. Kazakhstan will be one of the participants of the project within the limits of the concluded agreement on interaction and joint participation with Russia in Glonass project.

Three space vehicles Glonass-M by means of the rocket carrier Proton-M will be launched on September 25, 2008.
