Satellite Proton-M intended for launch of Glonass-M satellites in September delivered to Baikonur

The rocket carrier Proton-M intended for launch of Glonass-M satellites in September has been delivered to Baikonur, the agency reports referring to a source at the cosmodrome.

Baikonur. August 21. Kazakhstan Today - The rocket carrier Proton-M intended for launch of Glonass-M satellites in September has been delivered to Baikonur, the agency reports referring to a source at the cosmodrome.

The rocket carrier Proton-M with auxiliary equipment has been sent by railway from the situated near Moscow Hrunichev Center and arrived at Tyura-Tam station today.

After carrying out of customs registration procedures, the carriages with blocks of the rocket carrier and auxiliary equipment will be transported to the assembly testing complex of the platform 92 for assembly of the stages of the rocket carrier and preparation of the rocket for launch.

Launch of the rocket carrier Proton-M with three navigating satellites Glonass-M from Baikonur will be the first in 2008. The next launch of the rocket carrier Proton-M with three satellites Glonass-M is planned to be made in December, 2008.

The next launch of 3 satellites Glonass-M will enlarge, up to optimum quantity - 24 satellites, the group of satellites of the Russian Global navigating satellite system being in the orbit (Glonass).

Launch of the rocket carrier Proton-M with three space satellites Glonass-M is planned for September 25.
