Sea water radiation levels near Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex has peaked since samples were first taken, Voice of Russia reported.

The plant operator company, TEPCO, says that the content of radioactive iodine-131 in the sea outside the city of Minamisoma, 15 kilometres away from the station, is 23 times above normal.

This is the highest value since TEPCO started taking radioactive sea water samples early this month.
