I know that the fate of a refugee is not easy. Being persecuted, they are forced to flee to save their lives and the lives of their children. As honorary patron, I tried to change the lives of refugee children for the better, and I will continue this work as an Ambassador of Goodwill. Moreover, I also plan to raise awareness about refugees and help to improve their situation," said A. Sagat.

It is noted that the appointment is timed to the World Refugee Day, dedicated this year to the theme of the family.

According to S. Azam, in the recently released report on global trends, the UNHCR noted that at the end of 2012 there were more than 45.2 million of displaced persons. For comparison, at the end of 2011 the figure was 42.5 million people. These data include 15.4 million refugees, 937 thousand people, asylum seekers and 28.8 million people displaced within their own countries. Children under 18 make up 46% of the total number of refugees.
