Almaty. February 15. Kazakhstan Today - Cairo authorities have found two of several ancient treasures looted from the Egyptian Museum in the museum gardens, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Cairo authorities searching for artefacts looted from the prestigious Egyptian Museum at the start of the unrest last month have found two of the stolen treasures in the museum gardens, but the whereabouts of several others remain unknown, France24 reported.

AFP informed that Cairo authorities said on Monday they had recovered a pharaonic heart scarab and a tiny statuette, two of several ancient treasures looted from the world-famous Egyptian Museum during the country's uprising.

"The search operation that is being carried out inside and outside the museum for the lost artefacts has succeeded in recovering some of them," minister of state for antiquities Zahi Hawass said in a statement.

We found two of the eight missing artefacts outside the museum between a government building that got burnt and the gift shop. We are continuing the search and will find more," Hawass told Reuters.

Egypt's antiquities ministry said on Sunday that looters who raided the museum during the unrest at the start of the protests that overthrew Hosni Mubarak had made off with several pieces, including a statue of King Tutankhamun.

The plundered artefacts include a gilded wooden statue showing the boy pharaoh being carried by a goddess and parts of another statue of him harpooning fish.

Artefacts still missing include a statue of Akhenaten's wife Nefertiti making offerings and a stone statuette of a scribe from Amarna, Reuters informed.

Hawass said thieves also attacked a storehouse near the pyramids of Dahshour 35 km (21.75 miles) south of Cairo on Sunday, the second attack on the site in days.
