State Duma approved Zubkov for Prime Minister post
Almaty. September 14. Kazakhstan Today - Victor Zubkov will head the government of Russia. The State Duma approved his candidature today, the agency reports referring to the Russian mass media.
Voting in the State Duma was by show. 381 deputies voted for the candidature of the Prime Minister of the Russian government. 66-year-old Victor Zubkov became the ninth Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in the history of modern Russia.
As it was informed earlier, on Wednesday, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin accepted resignation of the Prime Minister Michael Fradkov. The request for resignation of M. Fradkov substantiated by the forthcoming important political events in the country and the desire to give freedom to the president of Russia to make decisions, including personnel.
According to the Russian Constitution, the President should sign the decree on appointment of Victor Zubkov for the post of the Prime Minister of the government.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
