The International Anti-Corruption Day has been celebrated since the UN General Assembly made the decision on December, 9th, the agency reports citing the message of Transparency Kazakhstan.

Almaty. December 9. Kazakhstan Today - The International Anti-Corruption Day has been celebrated since the UN General Assembly made the decision on December, 9th, the agency reports citing the message of Transparency Kazakhstan.

According to Transparency Kazakhstan, the UN Anti-Corruption Convention was opened for signing in 2003 in the city of Merida, Mexico. Two years later, on December 14th, 2005, the Convention came into force as an international legal document.

"On June, 4th, 2008 the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the Law on Ratification of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, the laws on ratification of the Protocol against Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, supplementing the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, on Prevention and Suppression of Trade in People, Especially in Women and Children, on Ratification Against Illegal Manufacture and Illicit Trade in Fire-Arms, Spare Parts, Components and Ammunition," the message states.
