Almaty. May 15. Kazakhstan Today - Traffic in Almaty will be temporarily restricted for nine days in connection with the 63rd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the traffic police unit of Almaty Department of Internal Affairs informed the agency.
"During the important political event from May 15- May 23, 2007 the traffic in the city will be temporary limited in the streets Satpayev, Zheltoksan, the areas of the Republic Square, prospects Abay, Furmanov, Dostyk, Raiymbek, Maylin, Suyunbay, in the area of the hotels Ankara Intercontinental, Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhetysu, Otyrar," the traffic police message states.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
