Two doctors condemned on HIV infection of children case released

Two women-doctors condemned on HIV-infection of children in the South Kazakhstan oblast have been released form the investigatory insulator in connection with deferment of the punishment connected with juvenile children that a condemned has, the chairman of the regional trade union of medical employees Anar Utegenova informed the agency.

Kazakhstan Today - Two women-doctors condemned on HIV-infection of children in the South Kazakhstan oblast have been released form the investigatory insulator in connection with deferment of the punishment connected with juvenile children that a condemned has, the chairman of the regional trade union of medical employees Anar Utegenova informed the agency. According to the chairman of the regional trade union of medical employees, the session of judicial supervising board under the presidency of judge Gulbanu Agadilova on the case of HIV-infection of children took place on October 5.

The chairman of the regional trade union of physicians reminded that four more doctors are still imprisoned. "This is the chairman of resuscitation department of the city children's hospital № 2 Asilbay Chukuyev, the chairman of the infant department of children's hospital № 1 Ashat Zarofov, the chairman of the resuscitation department of the regional children's hospital Muhamediyar Auelbekov, the chairman of the resuscitation department of children's hospital № 1 Alibek Tastanov. These are one of the most skillful doctors of the South Kazakhstan pediatrics," A. Utegenova said.

"We hope that eventually they will be released as well. The lawyers unanimously approve that there is no crime in their actions. In fact, the source of infection of HIV-infection has not been established yet," she added.

As it was informed earlier, on June 27 the chairman of Al-Farab regional court Ziyadinhan Pirniyaz pronounced verdict on the case of mass infection of HIV infected children. According to the verdict, 16 physicians have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment in the colony-settlement and the colony of general mode. Five defendants have received conditional terms of punishment.

As of today, in the South Kazakhstan oblast there are 136 HIV infected children, ten of them died, one has left abroad, and 17 HIV positive mothers.
