The United Nations creates working group on struggle against world food crisis. The UN Secretary General emphasized that food crisis has arisen for several reasons, including in connection with rise in prices for energy carriers, shortage of investments into agriculture, growth of demand, lack of international trading system and bad weather conditions.

"This crisis has led to multidimensional consequences, but it has seriously influenced the most vulnerable groups of the population in the poorest countries," Ban Ki moon noted. He emphasized that the army of hungry in the world grows and opportunities of the humanitarian institutions to help them have reduced.

The UN Secretary General noted that today all UN institutions have demonstrated solidarity and have decided to act as a united front in struggle against food crisis in the world. "We have coordinated a lot of measures that should be accepted in short-term, intermediate term and long-term prospect," the UN Secretary General said.

The meeting participants consider feeding hungry of vital importance. In this connection, they have called donors to urgently allocate for World Food Program (WFP) $755 million.

According to Ban Ki moon, the second problem - provision of food for tomorrow. The experts connect it with expansion of agricultural production. In this connection, steps on support of farmers in the poor countries, providing them with financial resources, seeds, fertilizers, etc. are planned.
