University Youth Association of Almaty announced its readiness to switch to Latin alphabet

Almaty. 13 September. Kazakhstan Today - University Youth Association of Almaty "G-38" announced its readiness to implement the concept of transition to the Latin alphabet, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"Many different alphabets have been used on the Kazakh land, but the ancient roots cannot be hidden. Historical significance is one of the objective factors of the holistic transition to the Latin alphabet. The accent on reforms to improve Kazakhstan's global competitiveness will undoubtedly accelerate integration into the world space in the spheres of technology, science and communication," reads the statement of G-38 regarding the issue of introducing a single Roman script standard for the alphabet of the state language.

"Our potential is a powerful factor in spiritual revival, strengthening of national identity. We live in common interests and development," the G-38 emphasize.

The statement notes that the transition to the Roman script is primarily aimed at reforming the Kazakh alphabet and spelling rules, which will allow establishing a correspondence between the phonetics of the language and its graphics.

"We are pleased that the state will also continue steadfastly implementing the policy on the development of trilingualism: Kazakh, Russian and English. We are pleased that the set of interrelated activities is aimed at training teachers, educating various groups of the population, developing teaching materials, transition of office work , information space to the Roman script, etc.," the association informed.

"We are sure that all young people and Kazakhstanis realize the importance of the historical moment. Thus we want to show high social activity, civic responsibility and state approach. We are ready to move on to its practical implementation!" assured the G-38.
