Almaty. February 23. Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of the Committee of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Armed Forces, the chairman of Almaty City Council of Veterans, Kupesbay Zhampiisov, suggested exempting the veterans of the Great Patriotic War from utility payment, the agency reports citing the newspaper Megacity.

According to K. Zhampiisov, "on the eve of the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, we need to adopt the new law on veterans." "We need to undertake some measures on increase of the welfare payment to the participants of labor front up to 5 - 6 MRP, after all they deserved it by working for 15 hours a day when they were 12 - 14. We need to exempt the veterans of the Great Patriotic War from payment of utilities.

According to the newspaper, as of January 1, 2010, there are 2341 veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Almaty, middle age - 87. The veterans of the Armed Forces in Almaty - 5225 people, veterans of Chernobyl - 424, and the veterans of blockade of Leningrad - 117.
