Veterans of World War II congratulated in Russian embassy on Victory Day - telechannel

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan organized the meeting of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The participants of the attack on Berlin and Kenigsberg took part in the event devoted to 63rd anniversary of the victory, the agency reports referring to the telechannel Era-TV.

Astana. May 5. Kazakhstan Today - The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan organized the meeting of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The participants of the attack on Berlin and Kenigsberg took part in the event devoted to 63rd anniversary of the victory, the agency reports referring to the telechannel Era-TV.

As of today, 23 people - the participants of the Berlin attack are alive. All of them are the residents of the capital.

The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan Michael Bocharnikov informed the veterans that the leaders of the CIS states made a decision to institute commemorative medals devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In 2010 there will be common for all post Soviet countries anniversary medal.

During the meeting photo-exhibition of historical pictures and a documentary film - Battle for Russia were shown to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
