Almaty. May 7. Kazakhstan Today - World food crisis has resulted from lack of investments into agriculture and use of natural resources for manufacture of bio fuel. The experts of the United Nations informed on May 6 at the press conference in New York, the agency reports referring to the UN news center.

According to the expert of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Kathleen Abdalla, during the long period there was a lack of investments and support in the field of agriculture. The increase of agricultural production could not satisfy the increased demand for agricultural products.

According to UN DESA chairman for Water and Natural Resources Aslam Chaudri, use of agricultural crops for manufacture of bio fuel has affected rise in price for food.

"The prices for food depend on land and water resources; therefore we use invaluable natural resources for manufacture of agricultural crops. Poor population of developing countries starves, growing up bread," A. Chaudri said.
