EAEU and UAE Establish Preferential Trade Area

Kazakhstan’s Mazhilis has ratified an economic partnership agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the United Arab Emirates, an agency correspondent reports.

The agreement is expected to create favourable conditions for Kazakh goods to enter the UAE market.

In particular, the parties have agreed on tariff liberalisation (the elimination of import customs duties) for at least 85% of product categories on both sides. The UAE has granted preferences for 6,757 product lines (86.0%), including the elimination of import duties on 6,565 product categories and the introduction of duty-free tariff quotas for 192 product categories imported from EAEU member states," the Mazhilis said.

The ratified agreement is intended to provide a solid foundation for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation with the United Arab Emirates.
