Military Transport Operations Within the CSTO to Be Accelerated in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's Mazhilis has approved amendments aimed at bringing agreements within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) into line with national legislation, the lower house of parliament said in a statement.

The Mazhilis ratified a protocol amending the Agreement on the Status of Forces and Assets of the Collective Security System of the Collective Security Treaty Organization of December 10, 2010, as well as a protocol introducing amendments to the Agreement on Cooperation among CSTO Member States in the Transportation of Military and Other Formations, Their Movable Property and Military Products of September 15, 2015," the statement said.

According to the Mazhilis, the amendments are largely clarifying in nature and are intended to align the provisions of the agreements with the national legislation of CSTO member states and the organisation’s regulatory framework.

In addition, the first agreement updates provisions related to the command and management of formations, the prompt consideration of transportation issues necessary for carrying out assigned missions, and the creation of conditions required for the operation of collective security forces and assets on the territories of the participating states.

The second document updates provisions aimed at increasing the efficiency of organising and carrying out the transportation of military and other formations when immediate measures are required for the fulfilment of their missions or participation in joint exercises," the press service added.
