Iran Airtour’s first charter plane carrying 137 tourists from Tehran, Iran, landed in Kazakhstan’s Aktau city, Kazinform learned from the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
According to Chairman of the Industry and Tourism Committee Dastan Ryspekov, Aktau is a highly popular destination among Iranian guests.
Now we are working on increasing the number of tourists. Negotiations with potential partners are underway," he said.
The second flight with Iranian tourists is to arrive in Aktau at the weekend.
Last year Kazakhstan introduced 14-day non-visa regime for the nationals of Iran, China and India.

Alikhan Smailov offers Cuban Prime Minister to discuss Agreement on short term visa-free travels

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held talks with the Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz. The meeting was held on the margins of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Sochi, Russia, primeminister.kz reports.
As Alikhan Smailov noted, Kazakhstan and Cuba demonstrate openness to strengthening and deepening bilateral cooperation. In particular, this is reflected in the fact that the level of the republic's diplomatic mission in Cuba was upgraded to a full-fledged embassy.
The trade turnover between our countries has the dynamics to increase. In this regard, we support joint work to identify priority areas of trade and economic cooperation and possible joint projects," the Head of Government said.
He also added that the countries have great potential for the development of cooperation in pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology. So, at present there is already some interaction between the relevant companies of Kazakhstan and Cuba.
We hope that this will lead to concrete results in the future," the Prime Minister stressed.
Alikhan Smailov also outlined the importance of consistent expansion of the bilateral legal framework and proposed to discuss an agreement on bilateral visa-free short-term travels of citizens of the two countries.
For his part, Manuel Marrero Cruz expressed Cuba's interest in developing deeper economic ties with Kazakhstan.
Healthcare is one of the potential areas of possible cooperation between our countries. Here we are talking about pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, medical services, academic exchange. There are different areas related to this industry, which we can develop," Manuel Marrero Cruz said.
He also indicated an interest in strengthening cooperation in such areas as the metallurgical and chemical industry, the production of building materials and agriculture.
In conclusion, Manuel Marrero Cruz invited the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan to visit Cuba at any convenient time.

Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Met with UNESCO Director-General

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay who is on her first official visit to Kazakhstan, press service of the Kazakh MFA reports.
Minister Nurtleu said that multi-faceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNESCO at all levels contributes to the implementation of the UNESCO Charter goals in education, science and culture. He also expressed gratitude to UNESCO leadership for the continued support of Kazakhstan’s initiatives and nominations.
Kazakh Foreign Minister assured that Kazakhstan is strongly committed to further developing cooperation with the Organization and will continue to support the strategic goals of UNESCO, aimed at expanding worldwide access to education, science, technology and information.
In turn, Director-General Azoulay reaffirmed her commitment to collaborate with Kazakhstan in promoting inclusive and sustainable development, including through improvement of the quality of education, protection of biodiversity, promoting cultural diversity, and the promotion of media development. She expressed her readiness to provide all possible assistance to the implementation of major reforms in Kazakhstan within the mandate of the Organization.
Azoulay expressed interest in implementation of new projects, including in the regional format in education, science and culture. In this context, she informed of the transformation of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office into a Multi-Sectoral Regional Office of the Organization.
It should be noted that Azoulay began her visit to our country by visiting the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan, which is the first of the Kazakhstan’s site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
For reference: Kazakhstan is a member of UNESCO since May 22, 1992. Our country is a party to 16 international Conventions of UNESCO. The list of World Heritage includes 5 objects from Kazakhstan, the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage - 13, the Network of Biosphere Reserves - 15, the Register of Documentary Heritage "Memory of the World" - 3, UNESCO Memorial Calendar - 25. There are 5 chairs, 31 associated schools and 190 UNESCO clubs functioning in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan - USA: issues of development of the main areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed

Vice Minister of Trade and Integration K. Torebayev met with Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia D. De Falco in Astana, press service of the Ministry of Trade and Integration reports.
At the meeting, the sides discussed the development of the main areas of bilateral cooperation as well as the most relevant topics in the light of the current geopolitical situation.
K.Torebayev spoke about the activities of the Ministry to strengthen regional trade integration, diversification of trade routes and support of exporters.
In turn, David De Falco noted that Kazakhstan has friendly relations with all neighboring countries and expressed the readiness of the United States for closer cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Vice Minister expressed hope to see each other on the sidelines of the Astana International Forum on June 8-9, 2023.

Kazakhstan and OSCE Stand for Overcoming Conflicts and Restoring Stability in Region

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid as part of her working visit to Kazakhstan and participation in the Astana International Forum, press service of the Kazakh MFA reports.
The parties exchanged views on a broad agenda of international and regional security cooperation and discussed the efforts of Kazakhstan and the OSCE in resolving conflicts and restoring stability in the region through an inclusive dialogue.
The OSCE Secretary General noted the relevance of the legacy of the Astana Declaration adopted at the 2010 OSCE Summit and emphasized "the indispensable role of Kazakhstan in the development of the Organization."
The Kazakh Minister stressed the importance of preserving the OSCE as a unique platform committed to the idea of a free, democratic, common and indivisible Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian Security Community.
Schmid touched upon close cooperation on three dimensions of security, including politico-military and economic-environmental cooperation, as well as the promotion of human rights and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
Minister Nurtleu commended the initiatives of the OSCE Secretary General aimed at strengthening the security and sustainable development of Central Asia, attaching great importance to deepening connectivity, water management and climate change.
In conclusion, the interlocutors agreed to continue active cooperation and joint efforts to overcome conflicts, both in the Organization and across the OSCE area.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko held a meeting with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt as part of her official visit to Kazakhstan and participation in the Astana International Forum, press service of the Kazakh MFA reports.
The parties discussed the current situation and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OSCE in light of the regional and international agenda, and exchanged views on coordination aimed at restoring peace and stability in the OSCE space.
They noted the fruitful work of the Kazakh delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, emphasizing the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering dialogue and mutual trust. Cederfelt added, “Without a dialogue there is no resolution of existing conflicts nor agreement.”
In the context of cooperation with the OSCE, the Kazakh diplomat briefly informed about the main goals of the foreign and domestic policies of Kazakhstan, focusing on the initiatives of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the ongoing reforms in our country. In this context, Vassilenko once again thanked Cederfelt for participating in the observation of the parliamentary elections held last March and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
The OSCE PA President thanked for the invitation to speak at the Astana International Forum, highlighting the great potential of this platform for exchanging views on a range of hot issues that concern all participating states of the OSCE. Cederfelt also commended the ongoing political and economic reforms in the country and emphasized Kazakhstan’s role in promoting stability and cooperation in Central Asia.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue active cooperation within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE as a whole.

Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Kazakhstan Presented Copies of Credentials

Ahead of the working visit of Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Željka Cvijanović, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko received the copies of credentials from (non-resident) Ambassador of BiH to Kazakhstan Željko Samardžija, press service of the Kazakh MFA reports.
Deputy Minister Vassilenko congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and noted that this would further strengthen the high-level relationship.
In turn, Ambassador Samardžija said he intends to make every effort for the comprehensive development of bilateral cooperation.
During the conversation, the diplomats discussed a number of topical issues on the agenda and prospects of Kazakh-Bosnian cooperation.
The parties also reviewed expanding the legal framework of relations and agreed to mutually actively support cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
Chairwoman of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović will participate in the Astana International Forum on 8-9 June. She is scheduled to meet with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov.
