Kazakhstan won 8 gold medals
Almaty. February 1. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan has won the 8th gold medal in the 7th Asian Winter Games, the agency reports.
Kazakhstan skiers Oxana Yatskaya and Elena Kolomina became the winners in ladies' team sprint free final in frameworks of the 7th Winter Asian Games. The host country's team was leading during the whole race and showed the result 20 minutes 39.9 seconds. At the finish they left the team of China (Man Dandan and Li Hongxue) 36.5 seconds behind. The third place was occupied by the Japanese skiers Omori Naoko and Kobayashi Yuki. They lost 54.5 seconds to the Kazakh team, Asian Winter Games Organising Committee informed.
The Kazakh skiers Alexey Poltoranin and Nikolay Chebotko made a confident victory in the team sprint free final. They overcame the distance with the result 22 minutes 46.2 seconds. An advantage of Kazakhstan was so great and Chebotko when finishing the 6th stage crossed the finish line with the national flag in his hands.
The silver medal was by the representatives of Japan Kimura Masaya and Naruse Nobu. They were 13 seconds behind the winners. The South Korean athletes Park Byung-joo and Jung Eui-myung were the third being 1 min 48.7 sec behind the Kazakh skiers.
Kazakhstan is confidently leading in the medal table with 8 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze.

Kazakhstan’s schedule at 2026 Winter Olympics for February 21
- At 2:45 p.m. Kazakhstan time, the freestyle skiing aerials team event will take place, featuring both qualification and final rounds. Ayana Zholdas, Roman Ivanov, and Assan Assylkhan are set to compete.
- At 3:00 p.m., Amirgali Muratbekov, Vitaly Pukhkalo, and Nail Bashmakov will line up for the men’s 50 km cross-country skiing mass start.
- At 7:50 p.m., the final Olympic speed skating event will get underway - the women’s mass start - with Elizaveta Golubeva representing Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's Shaidorov claims men's figure skating title at Milan-Cortina
