Almaty. January 15. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev invited U.S. President Barack Obama to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Today reports.
"On January 14 in Washington, Ambassador Kairat Umarov, presented his credentials to U.S. President Barack Obama," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
During the talks after the ceremony, the parties stressed the dynamic development of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States on a number of key areas.
At the end of the conversation K. Umarov congratulated the American leader and sent best wishes from the President Nursultan Nazarbayev on the occasion of the upcoming inauguration and an invitation to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.
"President Obama, conveyed his best wishes to our President, and expressed his willingness to continue working together to strengthen global and regional security, as well as to develop bilateral cooperation," reported in the Foreign Ministry.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev has appointed a representative for negotiations with the United States, Qazinform News Agency learnt from the Akorda press service.
The Head of State decreed to entrust Yerzhan Kazykhan, Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva (Switzerland), with the duties of the President’s Representative in the negotiation process with the United States of America on key issues of bilateral cooperation.
He was born on August 21, 1964. He graduated from the Leningrad State University, Diplomatic Academy of the USSR Foreign Ministry. Since 2025 has been acting as Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

Astana and Ljubljana Strengthen Twinning Ties

Altai Abibullayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Slovenia, discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation at the inter-municipal and regional levels at a meeting with the leadership of the Ljubljana City Hall, proposing to establish twinning relations between the capitals Astana and Ljubljana. The Slovenian side expressed genuine interest in the pace of Astana's development, the capital's current position in the Oxford Economics 2025 Index, as well as the priorities set by the President of Kazakhstan on December 24, 2025 for the capital of Kazakhstan and the implementation of the initiative on Astana Smart City.
Special attention was paid by the parties to the exchange of experience in urban planning, municipal development and solving problems of urban communication, environmental protection, safety of citizens, the role of AI in the development of urban infrastructure, metropolitan traffic and attracting foreign tourists and investments.
In preparation for the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Slovenia, the parties discussed initiatives to implement a number of joint cultural events, days of Kazakhstan in Ljubljana and further strengthen long-term partnership and friendship between our states and their capitals.
