Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev held a meeting with Minoru Kiuchi, Japan’s Minister for Growth Strategy, as well as Economic and Fiscal Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
The Minister noted that Kazakhstan currently holds a central place in Japan’s foreign policy agenda and is regarded by Tokyo as one of its key economic partners, playing an important role in ensuring sustainable economic development and the diversification of global supply chains.
He particularly emphasized the importance of the agreements and commercial documents signed during the first official visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Japan in 2025, describing them as a solid foundation for elevating bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
Minoru Kiuchi, who is also a member of the Japan’s Parliamentary Friendship League with Kazakhstan, referred to Kazakhstan as an "energy giant" that plays a significant role in ensuring global energy security. He expressed Japan’s interest in further expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, critical minerals, green transformation, and high technologies.
On his part, Ambassador Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev briefed the Japanese minister on the measures being implemented in Kazakhstan to ensure economic growth and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a key transit and investment hub of Eurasia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening the strategic economic partnership between Kazakhstan and Japan.
