Tokayev Discusses Kazakhstan-U.S. Cooperation with Trump Envoy

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with U.S. President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, the presidential press service Akorda reported.

Tokayev noted the high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the expanded strategic partnership between the two countries.

Kazakhstan is firmly committed to further deepening its expanded strategic partnership with the United States. I would like to take this opportunity to convey my best wishes and sincere respect to President Donald Trump. I look forward to meeting him later this year and would also like to express my gratitude for the invitation to participate in the G20 Summit in Miami," Tokayev said.


The president also welcomed Sergio Gor’s participation in the C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue, emphasizing the importance of U.S. cooperation with the countries of Central Asia.

For his part, Gor conveyed greetings from Donald Trump and underscored Washington’s interest in expanding its partnership with Kazakhstan.

We are committed to finding mutually beneficial solutions that serve the interests of our countries. In the past year alone, agreements and deals worth more than $20 billion have been reached, and I am confident this is only the beginning," he said.


The two sides discussed the implementation of joint trade, economic and investment projects, as well as cooperation in the fields of critical minerals, transport, logistics and digitalization.

Particular attention was also given to the activities of the Peace Council, of which Kazakhstan is one of the co-founding members.

Following the talks, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing Kazakhstan-U.S. cooperation.
